The ‘Plant Health Clinic in the Department of Plant Pathology and Seed Science for Cutting’ project, under the ‘Enhancing the Plant Health Clinic in the Department of Plant Pathology and Seed Science for Cutting – Research, Quality Education and Strengthening Outreach’ initiative of the Bangladesh University Manjuri Commission (UC) funded by the World Bank and the Government of Bangladesh, has been established.
In the inaugural ceremony, Professor Dr. Muhammad Sufi Ullah Majumder said that in a country like Bangladesh, where food security depends to a large extent on agriculture, it is possible to prevent a large part of crop damage if the right disease is identified in time and the farmer gets proper advice. Through the Plant Health Clinic, a practical bridge will be created between the university researchers and the field-level farmers. As a result, crop damage can be prevented through environmentally friendly means of pest and disease control.
He further said that this clinic is not just a service center, but through it, students will get the opportunity to access modern technology-based research.
The event was attended by the Dean of various faculties of the university, departmental chairmen, directors of various departments, heads of offices, teachers, officials, employees, and students.
