Special Correspondent: A workshop held on ”Increasing Aus Paddy Cultivation and Production Using Modern Technology,” and “Farmer Award Distribution Ceremony 2024” on Tuesday, May 28, at the Syed nazrul islam conference hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed that not an inch of land should remain uncultivated. DAE DG added that despite the significant impact of global climate change in Bangladesh, the DAE is achieving its field-level targets. Farmers are becoming more aware of modern agricultural technology, leading to increased soil fertility and better yields.
On that event The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has awarded 144 farmers, Sub Assistant Agriculture Officer, and upazila agricultural officers in three categories from six districts of the country for their significant contributions to agriculture.
The event was chaired by Acting Additional Director of DAE’s Mymensingh region, Salma Akther, with Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Director of project as the special guest.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Mofizur Rahman Jahangir of BAU’s Soil Science department presented the keynote. Highlighting the challenges of reduced arable land and soil fertility, he noted that global agricultural production needs to increase by 60% by 2050 to meet food demands.
The award ceremony also discussed various aspects of increasing production through modern technology and showcased agricultural production in the six project districts. Additionally, the benefits of ginger cultivation in bags and the use of poly-net houses were presented to the farmers.
