Special Reporter: Md. Harunur Rashid, Director of SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), met with the newly appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh, Mr. Rafiqul I Mohamed, on Tuesday (March 31, 2026).
During the meeting, Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid greeted the Secretary with flowers and extended his congratulations on assuming office. As part of the visit, the SAC Director handed over a newly published book of the Centre, reflecting its ongoing efforts in knowledge sharing and regional cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Md Younus Ali, Senior Program Specialist (Livestock) and Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, Senior Program Specialist (Fisheries), SAC.
The discussion focused on strengthening agricultural development across SAARC Member States through enhanced collaboration, innovation and exchange of knowledge. Both sides emphasized the importance of coordinated regional efforts to address emerging challenges in agriculture.
SAARC Agriculture Centre continues to play a vital role in promoting sustainable agricultural development and fostering partnerships among member states.
