UAF VC called for promoting CSA

Special Reporter : University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali has called for promoting climate-smart agriculture and value addition to ensure food security and make agriculture a profitable sector.

He was talking to a delegation of Inland Study Tour of 39th Senior Management Course led by Director Staff Farooq Adeel and Jamal-ur-Rehman at Syndicate Room on monday (20 april) where university senior management, deans, and directors also attended.
Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said the agricultural sector was facing the serious challenges including climate changes, low productivity, soil and other issue. He said that technology was available but ordinary farmer was not applying latest techniques. He reiterated the university’s commitment to producing highly skilled and technically sound professionals who can serve as change-makers in the agricultural sector.
He said that improving soil health is fundamental for sustainable farming. He called for measure to address water scarcity and increase awareness about modern farming practices. He emphasized the role of extension services and digital communication tools in bridging the gap between research and field application, especially for smalls farmers. He highlighted the university’s academic excellence, noting that 48 UAF scientists are ranked among the top 2 percent scientists of the globe. He shared that the university has strengthened its global reputation by securing the 33rd position in the subject of Agriculture and Forestry according to the QS Rankings. Additionally, the university secured the 61st position in Veterinary Science worldwide

The delegation also visited Main Library, Soil Sciences and Horticulture Sciences and others.
