Special Reporter: A significant milestone in agricultural education was reached at the headquarters of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), Mohanpur. In the presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ashok K. Patra and senior university officials, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed on On March 2, 2026, to grant affiliation to Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith Agriculture College (RKMVAC), Purulia. Representing RKMVAC, Swami Sibapradananda Maharaj joined the ceremony, marking the start of a collaboration dedicated to academic rigor and rural empowerment.

Through this agreement, RKMVAC will offer a four-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture degree program, strictly adhering to the curriculum and guidelines set by BCKV and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This partnership ensures that students in the Purulia region have access to high-caliber scientific training, blending technical expertise with the disciplined academic environment for which the Ramakrishna Mission is renowned. The initiative is particularly vital for the Purulia district, a region facing unique ecological challenges and economic hardships. By introducing advanced agricultural education, the alliance aims to transform these constraints into opportunities through climate-resilient practices and sustainable livelihood models.

Beyond the transfer of knowledge, this alliance is rooted in a shared sense of stewardship for the land. By combining BCKV’s scientific excellence with the Mission’s ethos of “service to man as service to God,” the partnership aims to cultivate professionals who view agriculture not just as a career, but as a vital contribution to the well-being of society and the sanctity of nature. It reflects a commitment to nurturing skilled “Karma Yogis” who will lead the way in sustainable farming and rural development.

This collaboration embodies a unified vision to bridge institutional expertise with grassroots needs. By empowering a new generation of agricultural leaders, BCKV and RKMVAC are sowing the seeds for a future where scientific innovation and ethical values work in harmony to sustain both the soil and the soul of the nation.
